Irlanda está reforzando su plantilla – Parsons

Beibhinn Parsons says Ireland are building their squad effectively as they completed back-to-back wins over Japan in Cork on Saturday.

Scott Bemand’s side recovered from a four-point defeat by the USA in their opening WXV Global Series match by beating Japan 31-24 in Galway last week.

They followed that up by scoring seven tries in a 43-19 victory over the same opposition at Virgin Media Park.

Parsons extended her record as Ireland’s all-time record try-scorer by crossing for her 25th touchdown for her country during an emphatic win for the hosts.

The wing had established a new try-scoring benchmark with a double at the Dexcom Stadium the previous weekend.

«Last week was great, to be back in green with the girls,» said player-of-the-match Parsons speaking to Irish Rugby+ after the game.

«I was on the sidelines rehabbing for a bit, so I really wanted to be a part of the team again.»

Among the try-scorers for Ireland were new caps Alana McInerney and Sophie Barrett, who crossed after being introduced off the bench as replacements.

Munster second row Jane Clohessy and full-back Niamh Gallagher were handed their first starts in the game.

«Our new caps are so good, they don’t miss a beat, they come straight in and add so much value to our team.

«They are building our depth so much and it is testament to this squad.»

Ireland next head to South Africa for two WXV Tests at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on successive weeks.

«Each game we have learned a lot, obviously we want to learn from winning more so than losing but every game we get better and we talk about getting one per cent better as a team, choosing courage over comfort, and I think we’ve been doing that,» added Parsons.
